Jill makes herself known the moment she walks into a room. She is confident, opinionated, and fearless. She looks well put together. She can strike up a conversation with just about anyone and has a way of making people feel seen and heard. Though I didn’t realize it at first, she’s one of the most thoughtful people I know.
Everett is her perfect match in every way. Seriously, he’s pretty much the male version of her. Together, they are high energy and adventurous. Sarcastic. Irreverent. And tons of fun.
Jill and Everett wanted their engagement photos to be an accurate representation of their relationship. They didn’t want vanilla Pinterest pics, they wanted photos that screamed them.
We started the shoot in a nearby park where Jill and Everett sometimes take their dog, Molly, to play. Despite the bazillions of people in San Jose, I’m always pleasantly surprised by how many green spaces there are in the city.
With just a little direction, these park and garden photos captured Jill and Everett’s playfulness and love. The laughs and smiles were real. The gaga eyes and connection were real. Every time I encouraged Everett to whisper in Jill’s ear, she opened up into a huge grin. Pretty sure I don’t want to know what he was whispering. ;)
Once the sun started its descent, we headed back to Jill and Everett’s apartment to wrap up things up with a casual and intimate family session in the bedroom. (Not that kind of bedroom session!)
These ended up being some of my favorite photos of the day. Like me, Jill is one of those people who changes into sweatpants and takes off her makeup the moment she gets home. So after the romantic outdoor sunset shots, these intimate pictures captured her and Everett the way I envision they spend most of their nights: comfortable in their Sharks gear, cozied up with the dog.
